3D PRINTABLE.GALLERYは、3Dプリンターで展覧会を印刷することで展示を鑑賞できる、バーチャルとフィジカルの中間に存在するギャラリー。新型コロナウイルス（COVID-19）が流行した2020年に計画され、その後数年間の中断を経て、2023年にオープンした。たんなるオンラインギャラリーのようにバーチャルに作品が存在するのではなく、それを3Dプリントで出力することで初めて作品をフィジカルに鑑賞できる。また、作品それ自体が3Dプリンタで出力・鑑賞できるのではなく、ギャラリーに訪れ、展示空間の中で作品を見るという一連の行為の様々な瞬間が3Dデータとして表現される。そして、必然的にこの展覧会に会期は存在しない。3Dデータが存在しつづける間、あるいは、鑑賞者が3Dデータを3Dプリンタで出力し、そのオブジェクトが存在する限り、この展覧会は継続される。このようなギャラリーの条件を通じて、自明とされている展覧会や美術作品、鑑賞体験といった要素を再考するためのギャラリーでもある。

このギャラリーの最初の展覧会として、谷口暁彦の個展「親知らず／wisdom teeth」を開催している。
「親知らず／wisdom teeth」
「親知らず」は、他の歯と比べて遅い時期に生えてくる第三大臼歯のことです。この、「親知らず」という変わった名前の由来には諸説あります。10代後半から20歳前後に生えてくることから、親が知らないうちに生えてくる、あるいは、昔はその頃には親が亡くなっていたからという説があります。また、対応する乳歯(親)を持たず、生え替わることなく突然生えてくるためであるという説もあります。そして、親知らずは生えてこない人もいたり、真っ直ぐに完全な形で生えてこない事が多く、しばしば抜歯されてしまう不遇な歯でもあります。谷口は、このような「親知らず」というモチーフと、3Dプリンタで出力する展覧会のあり方を重ね合わせながら、3D PRINTABLE.GALLERYのさまざまな可能性を探求します。

3D PRINTABLE.GALLERY is a gallery that exists in the intermediate space between virtual and physical, allowing viewers to appreciate exhibitions by printing them with 3D printers. It was planned in 2020 amidst the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and opened in 2023 after a hiatus of several years. Unlike a typical online gallery where artworks exist virtually, this gallery enables physical appreciation of the works by 3D printing them. Moreover, the various moments of the entire process, from visiting the gallery to viewing the artworks within the exhibition space, are expressed as 3D data. Importantly, the exhibition does not have a fixed duration; it continues as long as the 3D data exists, or viewers continue to output the 3D data with a 3D printer, sustaining the presence of the exhibited objects. Through these conditions unique to the gallery, it serves as a space for reconsidering elements such as exhibitions, artworks, and the experience of appreciation that are often taken for granted.

For its inaugural exhibition, 3D PRINTABLE.GALLERY is hosting a solo show by Akihiko Taniguchi titled "親知らず／wisdom teeth."
The 'wisdom teeth' refers to the third molars that typically emerge later than other teeth. There are various theories regarding the origin of this peculiar name, 'wisdom teeth.' One theory suggests that they are called 'wisdom teeth' because they come in without the person's parents knowing, often appearing during the late teens to early twenties. Another theory suggests that they were named 'wisdom teeth' because in the past, parents would have passed away by that time. There is also a theory that they are called 'wisdom teeth' because they do not have primary teeth ('parent teeth') to replace and instead suddenly appear. Wisdom teeth can be unfortunate teeth as they sometimes do not grow in some individuals, or they may not grow in straight and complete, often requiring extraction. Through the fusion of the motif of 'wisdom teeth' and the approach to exhibiting through 3D printing, Taniguchi explores the various possibilities of the 3D PRINTABLE.GALLERY.
